Review of Shirley Valentine (1989) by Sandra S — 24 May 2009
I have seen this movie so many times that I actually know every line by heart. This is one of those films that should be seen by anyone that has at any point felt that there is something missing in their life or that they've had missed opportunities as you will have great empathy with the main character Shirley Valentine.
It's an interesting comment about every social prejudicy women suffer and must forget their dreams in order to be a servent of their husbands and children. At this point, all women die inside. But Shirley shows us how to reborn beginning a whole new life full of hope as she tries to make her dreams come true, and she does.
.. Even though it might be quite funny in some scenes, it is essential for the well-being of the movie, and it makes it work in an unique way. Shirley Valentine is definetely a "Must Seen" !
