Review of Shinjuku Incident (2009) by Benny H — 04 Apr 2009
The plot is actually simple, or even cliche, just like the other Hongkong triad movie. But Derek Yee manage to explore the character development and the emotional play. We follow a development of a man who start as an innocent man, who is then willing to hurt other people for survival, and than into a man who is willing to kill for vengeance.
As for Jackie, two thumbs up. He successfully show his talent as an actor, and not a fighter or comedian. The movie does not contain even one scene of "Jackie Fight" (well a little perhaps), he act as a man who only know how to fight like ordinary man, natural swing and throw.. no style at all.
Jackie should do more movie like this.
Last but not least, like almost all Jackie Chan movie lately, there is a scene where he is without any cloths a.k.a. nude and I would say an unnecessary nude .. hmm... I actually start to think that he is a little exhibitionist ?!!??
And it's not Ken Watanabe but Naoto Takenaka.
