Review of Shinjuku Incident (2009) by Nur S — 07 Apr 2009
Usually Jackie Chan movies comes with a lot of expectations. Fans of the gongfu star will expect lots of action sequences, infused with creative use of props and death defying stunts that has come to mark his movies over the years.
Recently however, Jackie has mellowed and we are being reminded that he is after all, a movie star. So here he tries to act in what I deem is basically a mobster movie with a seemingly sad story of illegal Chinese immigrants infused in it.
I feel that overall the story is so-oh-we-have-seen-it-somewhere-before. Add some gore (a couple of arms being chopped off) and that's about it.
Overall a bearable show with some plot loopholes the size of a the sewers Jackie was swimming in. Just do not expect any Jackie greatness this time round.
