Review of Shinjuku Incident (2009) by Open 7 — 12 Oct 2012

Were promised a different side of Jackie Chan - no more nice guy and then he was the nice guy - what gives?. The story was compelling, the sets and locations and clothes were beautiful and it was easy to get into the characters, the action was compelling.

So what was missing? what could have taken this beyond the formula of chinese/japanese gangster films? It just felt that this should have been darker and more menacing - I never got involved with the characters.

Disliked the jie character - with his very plastic anime characterisation.
