Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Andrew H — 21 Apr 2008
I'm surprised I'm rating this as highly as the U2 3D movie but I feel it deserves it. It's quite simply the most impressively shot concert movie I've ever seen. Tons of camera angles I've never seen used before.
Scorsese and his crew did quite a job shooting and editing. After seeing the Stones in arenas and football stadiums, you'll be amazed to watch how Scorsese captures the looks and interaction among the band members.
They did a wild job with the sound editing tweaking it throughout to highlight various aspects of the performances. The overall highlight for me was the Buddy Guy performance. One warning: the set list is not a greatest hits compilation.
