Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Clay B — 27 May 2008
I wanted to like this a little more than I did but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I had expected a more 'career spanning' film with more footage from The Rolling Stones younger years and more interview footage.
The concert footage is great though and some of the more engaging that I've seen but it goes on too long, especially if you aren't a die hard Rolling Stones fan. I'd say Scorsese's other music related films are better, The Last Waltz being more engaging as a concert film and No Direction Home being far more informative as a documentary but this still has it's qualities and is probably even better for Rolling Stones fans.
