Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Dan S — 17 Jun 2008
Can geriatrics be hot? Yes they can! And therein lies the genius of Martin Scorsese. This film is almost all concert footage, beautifully filmed in a small venue with a lot of character. The cinematography and lighting are superb.
The music and energy of the Stones is incomparable, and jamming with special guest Buddy Guy provided the highlight for me. The concert is punctuated with some old interview footage and Mick camping it up.
A classic moment was Hillary Clinton's mother meeting Mick ("eehhh heeellooooo") and the embalmed corpse of Keif (mumble mumble). Brilliant! Long may they jam.
