Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Michael G — 01 Sep 2008
This movie was a lot of fun. I wasn't extremely familiar with a lot of the Stones' material being more of a Beatles fan, but these old guys still have got it. Mick Jagger has an energy that would put to shame men 1/4 his age. Keith Richards and Ron Wood's guitars sound so great together, and I had always dismissed Charlie Watts as a drummer but he really can bring it! the best part was that it looked like they truly were having a good time. Keith especially seemed to relish playing guitar and receive joy from doing so. The surround sound also played how I'd hoped U2-3D would play out turning up in the mix whatever instrument was on the screen at the time.
Good stuff!
