Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Hugo S — 08 Aug 2009
SHINE A LIGHT (2008).
Dir. Martin ScorseseMartin Scorsese: We cannot set Mick Jagger on fire. The British band needs no introduction, it has been around for almost 50 years. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts, are still rocking and close to 65 years old. Martin Scorsese has always been fond of The Stones, early in his career, he used one of their most memorable songs in his film Mean Streets. He decided he wanted to direct a documentary about them, mostly a concert, with bits of vintage interviews between songs, giving some insight about who those men were and are now, and they havent changed much.Shine a Light takes its title from a lesser known songs by The Stones, they've got plenty of hits, but plenty of fans as well, so most of the songs on the lineup are blues-oriented and not necessarily their biggest hits, which is somehow refreshing. Shot with flair by Scorsese, this is a must-see for fans, of either the band or the director. Its fine concert that should have music lover satisfied as well.
