Review of Shine (1996) by Steve C — 04 Jan 2008
A fascinating and deeply moving biopic. One of the best films of 1996, and the performance by lead actor Geoffrey Rush is phenomenal and certainly Oscar worthy. If you love musical dramas or biopics in general, I highly recommend this piece because it's one done with a lot of emotional honesty, poetry, and skill.
One never cloy while still retaining a lot of heart and effectiveness.
