Regardless how disputable the facts behind the film are, the movie alone brings about the emotion hidden w/in the pianist it portrays- a troubled artist seeking joy w/in music when he could have easily grown to hate it b/c of his father's pageant mother mentality of win win win.
even if his father was not the cruel man in film, his background was enough to force him to abandon his quest to play music on his own terms.
