The best re-interpretation of original Godzilla. If you're expecting kaiju monster wrestlemania like dozens of the predecessor sequels, this isn't what you're looking for. This is going back to the root and spirit of 1954 Godzilla post WWII where you're constantly reminded of the danger and horror of nuclear weapons. This Godzilla is an embodiment of nuclear disaster that haunts Japan re: Fukushima reactor incident post 3/11 Tsunami. His appearance in this movie is to challenge the human being as a collective to tackle the global environmental problems that kept on growing in an unprecedented scale. He rapidly evolves to fight the humans - his main 'enemy' and surprise them with unexpected challenges. From our perspective as human, it provided us with reflection of how bureaucracy and red-tapes hindered us from solving the root of the problem.

This new identity of Godzilla - a colossal beast that rapidly evolves - has a lot more potential to be sequeled compared to Legendary version which is just a remake of kaiju monster universe, which we've already seen thousands of time and know what to be expected.

I know the movie's pace is probably a bit too fast to introduce Godzilla's new identity, but re-watching it again and again helps you discover more and more out of the movie. Can't wait for the sequel.
