Review of Shin Godzilla (2016) by G Roland F — 10 Oct 2016

J.T. invited me to go watch this with him. He's a huge Godzilla fan. He said he's seen all of the movies. I was expecting to like it more than I did. I enjoyed some things about the movie, but overall it felt too flat.

JT liked it and said that that's just how a lot of Japanese movies are and that they don't have as much money for visual effects and stuff l like America does. I personally have not seen very many Japanese movies at all, so I don't really have anything to reference as far as making a comparison.

Some of the visuals looked pretty cool, and yet some just looked bad. Alot of the movie seemed to be purposefully silly. Some times it worked, but most of the time I wasn't that amused. I kept daydreaming alot.

I don't mind reading subtitles. I've seen other foreign films that I enjoyed much more than this one. It wasn't a bad movie. It just wasn't really a good movie in my opinion. JT liked it though as does the majority of the audience.

So maybe I missed something, but I thought overall it was a 4.
