Review of Shin Godzilla (2016) by Joe G — 13 Oct 2016
Not my cup of tea. This movie could have been renamed Godzilla: Board Meetings. There are literally 30 meetings of officials discussing strategies on how to take down Gojira (or Godzilla). The movie is a reboot on the Japanese end about how Godzilla emerges from an ocean fissure and begins to evolve into the massive creature we know him as.
The films CG is pretty terrible, but its almost an homage to the original films. The plot is still ridiculous and over the top. It's just about taking down a big ass lizard, but they almost overcomplicate it.
The film itself is just too slow. The action scenes when they do happen are actually pretty well done. Overall, this should probably be a rent when it comes out unless you're a huge Godzilla fan then wait it out for home viewing.
