Review of Shin Godzilla (2016) by Joe I — 01 Nov 2016

Whether you grew up with the classic Godzilla or not, this is an event to behold. However, it defiantly will not be what you imagine. Small spoilers ahead. It was interesting for this reboot of the Japanese franchise to make Godzilla the main threat instead of starting out with a foe for him fight.

The editing throws this film off a little with quick jumps in time and place leaving a viewer wondering whether this was due to scene cuts or time restrictions. The look of this new Godzilla is gorgeous with a blend of the classic era feel while amplifying new aspects of the creature we can't help but root for.

Even the human characters, while again with the fast paced editing seem to have them blend together, have a good heart in the situation without falling to western stereotypes. All in all, if you call yourself a fan, you need to see this.
