Review of Shin Godzilla (2016) by Jeff K — 11 Aug 2017

I was really excited when I first saw the trailer for this one but actually forgot about it because it took so long to hit the shelves in the US. I just happened to catch an ad saying a local store had it.

Surprisingly the person who rang me out didn't even know they had it! he was genuinely excited about it and planned on picking it up as well. But alas I'm not sure how I feel about this one, on one hand it's completely different from any other Godzilla movie but on the other it goes a little overboard in it's uniqueness.

It also has a little to much behind the scenes banter with the Japanese government about what to do and the decent cgi is saved for certain key scenes and lacks through out the rest. Maybe I need to watch it again without subtitles and listen to the campy dub over.
