Review of She's the Man (2006) by Logan A — 15 Jul 2012
While it's a well-meaning and sometimes even clever send-up to the Shakespearean tale that inspired it, She's the Man lacks any sort of sustained wit or high-brow aim. Most of the writing reduces any humor wherein to dumbed-down slapstick or teenage-level "witty" dialogue. Mediocre performances all around also fail to elevate this piece to anything other than schlock that fans of the actors or actresses will enjoy solely for featuring one of their favorite Hollywood crushes.
Avoid unless heavily intrigued by the premise or you want to see the (rather inept) way Shakespeare is being translated to entertain a modern audience.
