Review of She's Out of My League (2010) by Meaghan C — 26 Sep 2010
I enjoyed this movie quite a lot. It could have been better considering that in a way it's really about as smart as a mainstream romantic comedy is going to get. That's taking into consideration some of the gross-out humor scenes.
You're going to get that with these R-rated romantic comedies, it just comes with the territory so I didn't mind. Superbad (while not a romantic comedy) had a LOT of gross out humor and I still loved that movie.
I think this movie would have worked a lot better with a more independent approach. It could have still appealed to mainstream audiences but with more independent humor and better more introspective characters.
As it stands right now, this is what we got and I didn't really mind because I still had fun watching it but I still think it could have been far better. Before we keep going I must say one thing.
..Alice Eve is OUT OF THIS WORLD HOT. Good GOD almighty, she's unbelievable. Praise Jesus, Allah, Buddha, etc for Alice Eve. OK, that's it. This movie has some funny moments, it's got a good cast, a decent enough story or at least the IDEA the story is trying to get across, not so much the execution.
So that makes for a fun movie, if nothing else.
