Review of She's Out of My League (2010) by Blæke W — 01 Aug 2011
TSA Motherfucker.
Kirk is an average young man with little direction in life, no college education, and a simple job in security for TSA. He's skinny, not overly intelligent, and has low self esteem. One inauspicious day, after his girlfriend dumps him, he falls into the good fortune of a genuine hottie, with lots of money, and clear direction in life falling in love with him. Can Kirk overcome his shortcoming and keep the hottie?
"Whatever you do, don't stare at it.".
Jim Field Smith, director of the upcoming picture Butter (Hugh Jackman), delivers She's Out of My League. The storyline for this picture is fairly standard for the genre; however, the writing and script are clever and on par with recent dirty comedies such as Knocked Up. The cast delivers underrated performances and includes Alice Eve, Jay Baruchel, T.J. Miller, Krysten Ritter, and Nate Torrence.
"You could put your mouth here.".
Call me crazy but I actually thoroughly enjoyed this picture. I would have scored this even higher but it clearly ran out of gas by the end. TJ Miller was excellent throughout the movie but his last 6-10 lines lost steam and just weren't funny; however, the first 3/4 of the film were brilliant. I strongly recommend watching this picture if you enjoy this brand of comedy.
"I'm going to celebrate that day with a cake with her face on it; but instead of eating it, I'm going to smash it.".
Grade: B+.
