Review of She's Out of My League (2010) by Joseph M — 20 Feb 2011
Quirky sex-comedy mingled with slick pop-romance. Some of the jokes are as sub-par as you could expect from such a mixture, but there are funny moments, a few nuanced characters, even some welcome surprises in the screenplay.
The pivotal moment (Our hero is stuck with the wrong girl -- oh no! We have to fix this.) is a bit disappointing when it comes: unrealistic, predictable, seeming more like a hot-to-trot Nancy Meyers movie than anything real.
Thankfully, the scenes after it are punctuated by some moments of levity and irony better suited to the smarter Apatovian personality of the story.
