Doesn't quite unite the comedy and heart as well as Hughes' best work but this if far from being the misfire many believe. It is so obvious to see the autobiographical reflection between Hughes and Kevin Bacon's Jake, and the film certainly feels most comfortable in its honest/sentimental moments.
