I remember this as being a smart and far-from-syrup-coated look at potential parenthood. Was I ever gratified to find that Kevin Smith has cited this one as his favorite non-teen-oriented Hughes flick too-- and even admitted that JERSEY GIRL is somewhat of a homage to it.
