Review of She's All That (1999) by Fallon B — 27 Jul 2013
She's All That is simple, a bit generic, and typical of the late 90s/ early 2000s movie mode. Nevertheless, it is funny, well-acted, and, while not groundbreaking, the script is written in a relatable and realistic fashion.
SAT is a teen movie that my generation loved. It entertained us and, at the very least, employed actors with a talent for modern realism, which is more than can be said for many movies. It's in the same vein as 10 Things I Hate About You.
It is a basic, traditional story that is not meant to change lives, just to pass time in an enjoyable fashion. In regards to SAT, I laugh, care about the characters, and have no trouble believing that these people are who they are pretending to be.
What more can one ask for from a teen movie? It's fluff. It's not intended to make a big statement or have some sort of over-arching theme that changes lives. It does what it intends to do. It entertains and gives people a way to escape with laughter.
