Review of She's All That (1999) by Leonard D — 03 Jul 2015
She's All That is a rather cute romantic comedy with a John Hughes-ish quality to it. After getting dumped by his girlfriend a high school jock makes a bet that he can turn a socially awkward art geek into the prom queen.
Featuring Freddie Prinze Jr., Rachael Leigh Cook, Paul Walker, Matthew Lillard, and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, the cast is quite impressive (even if some of their performances aren't). Cook is especially charming and has tremendous screen presence.
And the writing does a good job at keeping the comedy light and kind of clever. However, the plot's pretty predictable and some of the humor is lowbrow. It has its flaws, but overall She's All That is a fun and entertaining teen comedy.
