Review of She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown (1980) by Lucas A — 02 Nov 2011
Peppermint Patty is the main character of She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown, and against my expectations, she's likable... I guess when she has no Charlie Brown to boss around, she's okay. This lesser-known Peanuts special is better than you think, making it as strong as the holiday shorts.
Snoopy is hysterical in this film; he plays a stereotypical furious skating coach. He reminds me of an angry Russian, complete with trapper hat and the irate noises that come out of his muzzle are hilarious.
The soundtrack is one of Peanuts' best; it has a hauntingly beautiful rendition of "O Mio Babbino Caro" whistled by Woodstock. If you're a fan of Peanuts, don't miss She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown.
