Not the most uplifting drama out there, but a fascinating portrait of a single mother ex-convict struggling to adjust to the real world. Maggie Gyllenhaal gives a solid gritty performance in this movie.
Despite a body like a world-weary eastern european prostitute, she is probably one of the most promising young actresses out there.
