Review of Sherrybaby (2006) by Trent B — 10 Aug 2008
While it may feature some good performances and a few nice scenes, as a whole it's a disaster.
A self indulgent, un-original, highly predictable, paint by numbers indie flick that is trying so hard to impress it fails on so many levels. Offering nothing new, it doesn't even offer the old in a new way. Heavy handed direction with a script that is running in the wrong direction at times leaves a film that's highly pretentious about it's message as it struggles to deliver it with any clout. Little to offer beyond a few good performances, but even then they are over-reaching to compensate for failures in other areas.
