Maggie Gllenhall aces this film. One of the top independent actresses of our generaiton. Sherrbaby is the culmination of the usual edgy/lusty/deviant roles in Secretary, MonaLisa Smile, and Donnie Darko .
The film realistically portrays addiction, the family cycle of addiction, and an addict's attempt to start over. Also, shows how even through all her less-than-perfect choices in life, at the core of herself, she is a good woman who wants to be a good mother, making her the ideal protagonist.
