Charlie Chaplin gets the attention for his directing and masterful films like Modern Times and City Lights but Buster Keaton created the perfect comedic masterpiece of the slient era with Sherlock, Jr.
It is so far ahead of it's time it would seem modern today! The pace is brisk, the gags overflowing, the effects amazing, and all in 45 minutes! I just watched it again the other day and was laughing out loud.
