Review of Sherlock Jr. (1924) by Andrew R — 13 Jun 2012
Buster Keaton stars as a movie projectionist/amateur detective ensnared in a dubious romantic triangle. A terrible turn causes him to dream of being Sherlock Jr., a brilliant sleuth looking into an insidious jewel theft.
This silent-era comedy is boldly enlivened by daring stunts, amusing trick photography, and brash slapstick. This short film did come out in 1924, but its humor and heart make it something more than a mere relic of its era.
