Review of Sherlock Jr. (1924) by John A — 22 Aug 2012
One of the great films of all time, Sherlock Jr. beautifully blends intrigue, adventure, laughs, and pathos, all within a story that, at times, borders on the surreal. The changing scenery of the dream sequence is brilliant, the motorcycle ride provides both thrills and laughs, but best of all is that wonderful conclusion.
There's a reflexive aspect to the sequence, posing for us the question that Keaton's Sherlock is asking: Can the movies really teach us everything we need to know about life?
