Review of Sherlock Jr. (1924) by Maxwell S — 15 Nov 2012
The most intensely brilliant film ever made. Take the care put into the comedy of Jacques Tati, the bare surface details of Chaplin, and the surrealism of Bunuel and wrap it all into one, wholly original (even to this day), and intensely brilliant 40 minute film.
Buster Keaton is the master of the silent era, hands down. And this film just might be as brilliant as Citizen Kane. One of my personal top 15 films, and the greatest comedy (Pure Comedy) of all time.
