Review of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) by Jason U — 02 Jun 2014
I enjoyed this one much more than my first viewing of its predecessor. The fact that my expectations had been adjusted helped with that. That's not to say you shouldn't expect a good time. As a Conan Doyle fan, I had to digest the idea that this Holmes is in no way faithful to the literature.
Once past that, I'm a fan. What we have is a nice blend of mystery, humor and action. Bonus the usual great performances from Downey and Law. For me, though, this sequel's real cheat is the addition of Noomi Rapace to the cast.
She is such an engaging actor that she not only holds her own with the aforementioned, but occasionally, quietly steals the show.
