While the film doesn't quite stand up to the beauty of the original Victorian buddy cop masterpiece (notwithstanding the EXCEPTIONAL scenes with Jared Harris' Moriarty), A Game of Shadows wows the skeptical viewer even today at how well the snappy direction of Guy Ritchie and Sir Doyle's greatest achievement mesh.
