Review of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) by Arjun I — 08 May 2013
I thought the first one was good....but this one was better....with every second I lost myself more and more into the game of shadows being played out by Prof. James Moriarity and the counter moves by his arch nemesis Sherlock Holmes.
Robert Downey Jr. has done an excellent job of portraying the iconic detective with his wit and subtle humorous comments, not to mention his drinking Formaldehyde. Jude law is back and is ever the loyal Dr.
Watson who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of his friends wild and seemingly crazy antics. It was a pleasure to see Mycroft holmes in this movie, Stephen Fry has done it justice as being Sherlocks eccentric and brilliant brother.
However, the one character that seemed to lack punch was the great Prof. Moriarity himself. Jarred Haris did a fine job of portraying the criminal mastermind but....there was something missing, a sinister aura if you will.
That dangerously calm air about Prof. Moriarity that made him such a hit.All in all....an excellent movie and...another one should be made only if it takes the characters further ahead....otherwise...
This is a good way to say goodbye to the brilliant champion of law.
