Review of Sherlock Holmes (2009) by Mark K — 24 Sep 2012
Between 2.5 and 3. First idea: it's not Sherlock Holmes, it's British Robert Downey Jr. Anything in common with original Sherlock Holmes is a coincidence, so, don't look for them. It takes pieces from "From Hell", some aspects from Sherlock Holmes, and some common places, and makes an interesting story in some of the master lines, but also too simple in some others.
Some good characterization of psychological aspects of characters (and the relations between them), and also good scenography, but in other aspects, too predictable and obvious. A movie that could have been made much better than it is, because it had to be adapted to commercial standards.
But in any case, funny and amusing story. P.S. Rachel McAdams was as pretty as always as Irene Adler.
