Review of Sherlock Holmes (2009) by Patryk C — 28 Jul 2012
Apart from the reinvention of Holmes as a rollicking, bare-knuckle fighter action man with an actual libido and sexuality (bromance and straight), every other aspect is surprisingly faithful to the source material - not that it really matters.
Although the Downey, Law and McAdams give it a good go and look like they're having immense fun, their charisma can't quite cover up all of the movie's weak points, when the pacing and energy sometimes falters and even drags.
It's not as clever as it thinks, but Downey's turn as the brilliant, eccentric know-it-all Sherlock definitely made this film seem a lot better than it actually is.
