Review of Sherlock Holmes (2009) by Mike S — 11 May 2014
Slick production values don't hide the fact that this is a very different take on the famous detective. Downey Jr.'s attempt at an English accent was inconsistent, but I did like his portrayal of Holmes as someone with inner demons.
Detective movies should give the audience enough clues to at least have a chance of solving the mystery before the hero does. There was no chance of that here, as the solution depended on esoteric facts that no one would have been able to put together.
