Review of Shelley (2016) by John K — 28 Jul 2016
This film is unafraid to take its time, as it is a slow, methodical crawl to horror. Only that's all there is. There's no higher point being made or surprise at the end of the tunnel, just a slow build to an expected climax.
It has some effective moments, which work more on a level of unsettling than outright scary and the back-drop is often beautiful. Moreover, the performances from Petersen and Stratan are strong. But, ultimately, there just wasn't enough here to deliver a fully interesting film.
