Review of She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) by Gerry N — 16 Jun 2007
The second, and in my opinion best, of John Ford's "Cavalry Trilogy". John Wayne plays the aging Captain Nathan Brittles, who is in the process of handing over his command to Lt. Flint Cohill (John Agar).
But his last days of command are not to be quiet ones. Custer has just been defeated, and although Brittles and Chief Pony That Walks (played by Chief John Big Tree) both wish for peace, the latter is powerless against a new war chief, and Brittles is set to retire with his last assignment being to deliver the wife of his Major, and Olivia Dandridge (Joanna Dru) to the stagecoach.
