Review of She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) by Jérôme V — 23 Jul 2009
I donâ??t have a lot to tell about this one. Itâ??s definitely not on par with Fordâ??s The Searchers. Not because itâ??s bad: in fact, I maintain that Ford have an incredible eye, and know how to handle action scenes and western vocabulary.
As for Wayne, he is quite excellent. It must be that, after having seen such a masterpiece as the aforementioned The Searchers, with its biting themes, jaw dropping cinematography and passionate interpretations, a movie rather sweet as She Wore a Yellow Ribon does not get much under the skinâ?¦ While The Searchers ranks among the best American movies of all time (any genre taking into account), She wore a yellow ribbon would have been forgettable if it wasnâ??t for the above average talent of its artisan.
For John Ford fans onlyâ?¦.
