Review of Shaun of the Dead (2004) by Travis H — 18 Jun 2013
Overrated, but still entertaining. Sadly, the zombies here are probably the least threatening monsters ever put on screen. The movie would have benefited from a better balance between comedy and horror.
Shawn of the Dead is lucky it came out before Zombieland, a vastly superior film, with more heart, that manages to make you laugh without completely sacrificing the sense that main characters might be in actual danger.
Shaun of the Dead is certainly funny, but personally, I feel like it missed an opportunity to set the bar a little higher.
