Review of Sharpe's Rifles (1993) by Walter M — 02 Jan 2005
"Sharpe's Rifles" is the beginning film in a series of television films about Richard Sharpe(Sean Bean), who is promoted from sergeant to lieutenant after saving the life of General Arthur Wellesley(later the Duke of Wellington) during the Napoleonic Wars.
It gets better as it goes along, thus serving as a pretty entertaining introduction to the series. A marvelous Brian Cox steals the show. But there is an awfully anachronistic electric guitar score..
