Review of Shark Night 3D (2011) by Luke H — 22 Oct 2012
List of pluses and minuses for a shark "horror" film:
+ The sharks are well done,.
- but so far out with the jumping and leaping that they lose credibility and believability.
+ the idea is interesting.
- but the plot is very simple, over-simplified even.
+ There's quite a lot of action.
- but not enough for such a short movie with such a flimsy storyline.
- The dialogue is just bland and pointless.
- and the characters are cardboard thin and one dimensional.
Even so this is in my opinion a better film than Piranha for instance. Sharks give this movie potential, but its not used. The situations are not believable (such as a person losing an arm all the way to the shoulder and walking around afte a little recuperating and no doctors, medicines etc). So this is not quite on par with Deep Blue Sea, but its stil relatively watchable, even though its silly and not really fun at all.
