Review of Shaolin (2011) by David S — 02 Feb 2011
This film has so much potential but seems to have lost a lot in its second half. Whilst the first half is very authentic and culturally delicious, the second half seems to be bastardized by Hollywood with cheap acting, tonnes of explosions and a sentimental slow-down queue-music scene.
It becomes over the top and loses its authenticity, especially with the ridiculous cash-in on Jackie Chan. I was crestfallen with what this film achieved.
