Review of Shaolin (2011) by Susi M — 26 Oct 2011
A loose remake of jet li's first film, while visualy and technicaly superior, jet li's original shines a bit better in terms of the amount of martial arts scenes. Andy Lau shines in his acting ability in this movie rather than his martial arts prowess.
It would have been a bit better had Lau's character completely renounced violence instead of going immediately to train with the monks, with Lau having to protect the temple. Jackie Chan is terrific in a supporting cast function, some terrific fight scenes towards the end of the film whereas the original had a ton of weapon and kungfu scenes.
Still another decent Andy Lau flick and worth a watch along with the original trilogy.
