Review of Shanghai Triad (1995) by Kaela Z — 31 Aug 2007
I was expecting at least a movie of the "Red Lantern" calibre. But this was disappointing. It was filmed beatifully, and whatever he wanted to show was done to perfection. The story by itself was weak, and there was nothing much that you gain out of this movie, apart from an idea of 1930s Shanghai, which you can probably get from a documentary as well.
It wouldnt be as beautifully shot though.
