Review of Shanghai Triad (1995) by Irish E — 03 May 2010
Shanghai Triad (Yao a yao yao dao waipo qiao) is a tough movie for me to review. It really wasn't what I had expected. Whenever I think of gangster films, I expect more action. This was a well written and acted film.
The sets and costumes were good. The first hour or so was slow. I kept waiting for something to happen. They could have cut 15 minutes of singing and the crowd dancing, in the club, and it would not have affected the story line at all.
I do not regret watching it. However, I will not watch it again.
