Review of Shanghai Noon (2000) by Jesse B — 02 Jun 2012
I really love this movie. It is funny without being pandering; it's action filled without being violent; and it's a whole lot of fun without being a complete waste of time. As far as good movies are concerned this is probably Chan's best (although it does not express the full nature of Chan's former abilities in the martial arts and his incredible stunt work as others do).
And Owen Wilson gives a great Wilson-esque performance before his intelligent and funny persona was replaced with a witless nincompoop as has been the case of late. Shanghai Noon is a great action, buddy, martial arts, western comedy for the ages.
