Director/co-writer Destin Daniel Cretton’s film accomplishes something akin to what “Black Panther” accomplished in better times. It broadens the scope of superhero representation and storytelling.
It offers an adversary, and a father figure, of teasing ambiguity and complicated rooting interests.
